Rothlú Badb Shibori Silk Necklace
Rothlú Badb Shibori Silk Necklace in indigo, seagram and aqua.
Made from Rothlù's own hand patterned, hand dyed silk, using shibori techniques to achieve the gorgeous gradations of colour in their silk pieces. Rothlú only use old remnant blank silk stock so as to avoid unnecessary consumption as far as possible.
This neckpiece is composed of 3 hand cut wavy silk sections, backed on leatherette, hinged together and hung on black hand rolled silk cord. The cord is adjustable so you can style your neckpiece at whatever length you like. The necklace is sealed with a glossy coat of eco resin.
Dimensions: pendant- approximately 12.5cm width by 8cm length, silk cord total length is approximately 1 metre and is fully adjustable.
Handmade in Ireland
Rothlú pieces are made and designed by visual artist/maker Frances McGonigle in small bespoke quantities at her Ox Mountain studio in rural Mayo, Ireland. The Ox are low pre-ice age mountains with a wealth of megalithic tombs and wonderfully diverse landscape formations, textures and flora, all of which influence the patterning and dyeing that forms the basis of Rothlú's textile jewellery.
The processes, contemporary batik and shibori techniques, result in super-lightweight lusciously hued jewellery that is modern, unique and beautiful.
Rothlú only use remnant material, some of which is recent waste off-cuts/dead-stock, some of which is older much-used and repaired linens/cottons and silk. And finish their pieces using eco pine resin. All packaging is recycled/recyclable. Their aim is to be as sustainable in their making as possible.
